On 26 June, it's that time of year again: together with our many partner florists, we're handing out unexpected joy in the form of small bouquets throughout Germany that can be found and taken home. To make your little gesture really stand out, we'll show you how you can use a simple trick to make beautiful vases from old jam jars or preserving jars for your little bouquets for Lonely Bouquet Day.

Materials required:

  • Jam jars or preserving jars
  • Board markers in different colours
  • Natural thread
  • Flowers of your choice (you can get these from your local florist)
  • The printed template for the tags

Instructions for the surprise bouquets

Using two hands and chalk paint, the lettering "FOR YOU" is applied to a mason jar.

Step 1: Write the message on the glass

Firstly, write the message you want to send to the recipient of the bouquet on the glass. It can simply be "Lonely Bouquet Day 2022", "For you", "Take me with you", painted flowers or hearts. There are no limits to your creativity.

Three mason jars with three different painted messages stand on a table. A hand arranges individual flowers in the middle jar, while the right jar is already completely filled with flowers. The left jar is still empty.

Step 2: Arrange the flowers in the glass

Then arrange the flowers in the jar as you like best.

Two hands tie a bow with jute twine around a mason jar filled with flowers. The jar reads "Take me with you!" written in chalk paint.

Step 3: Decorate the glass and attach the pendant

Finally, you can decorate the glass a little, e.g. with a small bow made from natural thread. You should also attach the small tag there later. The finder can then see from the note that the bouquet is to go and that it is intended to bring them joy.

Three mason jars with different messages written on them in chalk paint stand on a table. The jars contain flowers. A hand arranges more flowers in one of the back jars.

That's it!

And now you're ready to hand out the bouquets on Lonely Bouquet Day. We recommend that you choose a shady, cool spot for the bouquets so that the finder can enjoy the flowers for a long time. Happy Lonely Bouquet Day!
